WAMC’s Book Show comes to The Mount! Host Joe Donahue and author Courtney Maum will discuss Courtney’s newest book, Touch, a satirical and moving novel about a New York City trend forecaster who finds herself wanting to overturn her own predictions, move away from technology, and reclaim her heart.

Don’t miss The Book Show at The Mount: Joe Donahue in Conversation with Jim Shepard!

Joe Donahue talks to people on the radio for a living as WAMC’s Vice President for News and Programming. In addition to countless impressive human “gets” – he has talked to a lot of Muppets. Joe grew up in Philadelphia, has been on the area airwaves for more than 25 years and currently lives in Washington County, NY with his wife, Kelly, and their dog, Brady. And yes, he reads every single book.

Courtney Maum is the author of the celebrated novel I Am Having So Much Fun Here Without You and Touch. Her short fiction, book reviews, and essays on the writing life have been widely published in outlets such as The New York Times, Tin House, Electric Literature, BOMB Magazine and BuzzFeed, and she has co-written films that have debuted at Sundance and won awards at Cannes. At various points in her life, she has been a trend forecaster, a fashion publicist, and a party promoter for Corona Extra. She currently works as a product namer for M·A·C cosmetics from her home in Litchfield County where she relocated after nearly ten years in the Berkshires….forgive her! They have daycare there!

The Mount is a Massachusetts Cultural Council UP designated organization welcoming participants of all disabilities. Please contact Nicole Williams at 413-551-5100 or by email, nwilliams@edithwharton.org, to discuss accommodations needed to participate fully in this event. Caregivers are admitted free-of-charge.
